My F1 Adventures: From Montreal to Monaco
Some 25 years or so ago our friends at Castrol turned me into an F1 superfan.
I know all the drivers.
I always watch on Sundays and frown when the season comes to an end.
We attended the F1 in Montreal more than a dozen times.
And now the new spot is Monaco.
Cooler than cool how they turn the city into a racetrack.
We went the first time a couple of years ago to celebrate a milestone birthday for my husband.
Bite the bullet and paid for tickets in the stands.
It wasn’t covered.
It poured rain ( I think I posted a picture of us soaking wet that year.)
Anyway- last year we decided to forgo the stands and attend the race from a nearby restaurant.
This restaurant is really close to the track- you can hear the engines and they have huge screens all around.
Much more fun drinking champagne and staying dry….and did I mention the French fries??
Sitting across from us was this guy.
Do you know who it is?
We were sending photos like crazy to our family and friends.
Everyone coming back saying: WOW! That is so cool! How did you get to sit so close to him?
We sat quietly giggling.
Maybe an hour or so went by. We met some great people. Engaged in a lot of people watching. Cheered the drivers & went over to join in on a Veuve Clicquot afterparty in the park right beside the track.
Awesome DJ.
Everyone dancing and living in the moment.
Suddenly our phone lit up from our friends saying:
HEY! That isn’t Lewis Hamilton!
To which we replied:
We didn’t say it was…..;.)
But it sure does look like him doesn’t it?
We’re going again this year. I hope we run into Leclerc. And wouldn’t it be something if he won in his hometown?
I’m just not sure that Verstappen is gonna let that happen.
We’ll see….
