Customer Service at it’s BEST
We had such a great time in St Martin last week.
Blue skies
Blue water
Great food and such nice people.
We stopped into a cigar shop. Not to buy. Just to look.
It was so cool – that I had to see the inside.
One wall had a beautiful mural of an old car that looked to be taken in Cuba maybe in the late 50’s.
There was a HUGE chandelier over the walk- in -humidor where so many interesting looking cigars were displayed – coming from all over the world in very attractive upscale wrapping. Think red velvet lacquered boxes…
Outside of the humidor was a bar and 2 big leather lounge couches. At the front of the store was a bright yellow Italian Vespa – begging for it’s picture to be taken.
A gentleman greeted us at the door in a full suit ( remember it’s about 38 degrees there all the time). He was wearing an ascot at his neck, a puff in his jacket pocket and spats on his shoes.
The first thing I said was: Wow! I love your shoes!
He said: Thank you for noticing- they are killing me!
After a good laugh he offered us a drink. My husband chose a scotch and on a very rare occasion- I asked for water.
The owner told us about the store and their vision to offer an upscale experience to their customers. I would say- in no uncertain terms: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
We shared stories for about a half an hour or so and when we were ready to go my husband asked for the bill.
The owner said: If you give me a hug and allow me to take your picture with the Vespa- I think we will be about even.
How nice is that?
We had so many similar experiences of kindness throughout our trip that we not only warmed our bodies but we certainly warmed our hearts.
Thank you St Martin. I suppose this is why we’ve been going to visit since 1989 and why we can’t wait to go back!
